Alex Brodsky reveals a commanding sensitivity to the human face and figure in his powerful portraits, historical and imaginary. His subjects range from familiar personages such as Shakespeare to classic types, all done with striking contrasts of rich, saturated color against backgrounds of geometric abstract forms. The vivid features and striking poses of his subjects produce dramatic patterns in which the abstract values of the elements are harmoniously integrated into the compositions.

A native of the former USSR, Alex Brodsky is a graduate of the Interior Design College of Kiev, Ukraine, and has made his home in the United States since 1976.
